Kelly Kalandyk Smith

Ms. Smith is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the U.S. District Court District of Massachusetts and the U.S. Court of Appeals 1st Circuit. She is a graduate of Suffolk University Law School, 1988 and received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Connecticut, magna cum laude, Honors Program, in 1985. Ms. Smith's practice focuses on the defense of physicians, nurses, hospitals, and other medical facilities in complex medical malpractice actions in both the state and federal courts. She also manages cases involving employment law.

Ms. Smith has specialized in insurance defense for over 20 years. Prior to joining Sloane and Walsh, LLP, Ms. Smith's practice included medical malpractice defense, general liability defense, employment law, insurance coverage, and insurance defense. In particular, she has experience litigating claims involving product liability, premises liability, wrongful death, construction defect, bad faith and unfair claims handling. Ms. Smith's experience also includes representation of a special needs child and his parents in federal litigation involving special education law. Ms. Smith has tried multiple cases to verdict and has successfully resolved hundreds of cases through arbitration, conciliation, mediation, and/or settlement. Ms. Smith has also prepared appellate briefs before the Appeals Court of the Commonwealth.

Ms. Smith has also served as a member of the Coalition, a program of the Tri-Town Council, a community-wide partnership of Boxford, Topsfield and Middleton, whose focus is to reduce and prevent substance abuse and abuse among youth.
